Nikkei 225: Strong open above +1%, tracking US equity gains

FXStreet (Bali) - The Nikkei 225 opens up by around 1.1% or just under 200 points higher at 18,270.00, tracking solid gains in the SP500 overnight, up by 1.49% at 2023.66.

Risk-on returns, SP500 soars

Equities in the US were initally boosted by an improved US CPI reading, with the risk appetite extending despite big misses in regional US manufacturing numbers (Empire State Manuf Index and Philly Fed Manuf Index).

Pessimism over Fed rate hike in 2015 remains

Even as the risk environment towards equities improves, the market continues to price out a Fed rate hike in 2015, with odds now at 50/50 for a March 2016 rate hike, according to data obtained via CME Fed fund futures.
