FXStreet (Córdoba) - In an interview with CNBC, William C. Dudley, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, said that he thinks a rate hike is still likely in 2015. Dudley is voting member of the FOMC, added that the US economy is pretty strong but expected the weakness in the trade sector to continue next year.
"The domestic side of the economy looks really good, some temporary drag from inventories and some more persistent drag from the trade sector," said Dudley to CNBC. Regarding the outlook for monetary policy, the still considers a possibility a rate hike this year and he was not surprised by market volatility. At the September meeting, Dudley voted to leave rates unchanged.
